Frequently Asked Questions

What specific testing protocol do you use for HIV screening and ongoing monitoring?

We use the fourth-generation HIV tests that can detect the virus quite early on. If you’re diagnosed with HIV, we’ll check your viral load and CD4 counts every three to six months this helps us make sure your treatment is working well and adjust it if needed.

What is your process for initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) in newly diagnosed HIV patients, and how do you manage potential drug interactions?

Once we confirm a positive HIV diagnosis, we sit down with you for pre-treatment counseling and run some baseline tests to check how your liver and kidneys are doing. We then work together to choose the best ART regimen for you. We’re very careful about potential interactions with any other medications you’re taking, so we review everything thoroughly and keep a close eye on how you’re doing, especially in those first few weeks.

What preventive measures do you offer, such as PrEP and PEP, and what are the criteria for eligibility?

If you’re at higher risk for HIV, we can offer PrEP after confirming your HIV-negative status and checking that your kidneys are in good shape. We’ll see you for regular check-ups every few months while you’re on it. If you think you’ve been exposed to HIV, we also offer PEP which needs to start within 72 hours of exposure to help protect you. We’ll talk through your situation to decide the best course of action.

How are immunization schedules tailored for different family members, especially if there are underlying health conditions?

We follow national immunization guidelines, but we also customize the schedule based on your family’s needs. For example, your little ones will get vaccines like DTaP, Hib, and MMR on a set schedule, and if anyone in the family has a chronic condition like asthma, we might take extra care or adjust the timing. Adults can expect routine shots like the flu vaccine, Tdap, or pneumococcal vaccines always tailored to your health history

Can you explain your approach to family planning consultations, including fertility evaluations?

When it comes to family planning, we take a detailed look at your overall health, which might include hormone checks and ultrasounds if needed. Whether you’re looking to start a family or just want advice on contraception, we’re here to give you clear, personalized guidance and, if necessary, refer you to a specialist for further help.

What protocols are in place for managing chronic conditions within a family setting?

For chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, we create a care plan just for you. This might mean regular check-ups, specific tests like quarterly blood sugar levels for diabetes, and ongoing advice on nutrition and exercise. We also work closely with specialists when extra expertise is needed, ensuring that your whole family gets the best care possible.
